Eureka Campania originates from an ancient grape, a Campanian variety that traverses more than two thousand years of history and carries within it the deep breath of time: Falanghina. It is a name that sounds familiar today, almost ordinary, but every time I pronounce it, I feel a layering: as if inside there were more time than trend.

This vine sinks its roots into the Phlegraean Fields and the Campanian lands where Rome—while still learning how to be Rome—found its balance among steaming thermal baths, solemn temples, opulent dinners, and political decisions that would change the world.

It was in those places that senators, often stripped of their weapons and immersed in the steam of the hot springs, could speak to each other without defenses, reach agreements, weave alliances, and imagine the future before formalizing it, like a theatrical performance, in the Senate chamber.

This is how the Empire was built, between human warmth and strategic vision, and in those moments, wine was already a living presence, a silent and necessary companion. Falanghina tells this entire story.

Etymologies and legends circulate around its name: some derive it from "phalanx", the Roman phalanx—an idea of a garrison, of order, and of resistance in a time that was shedding its skin.

In that extreme resistance, between fire and destruction, wine provided both comfort and strength.Stories are told of an amber wine, sometimes sweetened with honey or fruit juices to soften its acidity and sharper notes, yet capable of guarding a precious secret: that warm lucidity which, at times, resembles courage.

For this reason, every glass of Falanghina can be listened to like an epic tale, a fragment of memory crossing the centuries. Yet today, this variety is sometimes reduced to a simple, everyday, immediate wine, forgetting the depth of its history and the nobility of its origin.

Eureka Campania was born precisely from the desire to restore the weight, value, and dignity of Falanghina. In 2005, I chose a bold path: pushing bâtonnage until the fermentation lees were completely dissolved and integrated into the wine, creating a structure capable of protecting itself almost independently, minimizing the use of sulfites and allowing an unexpected longevity for a white wine.

It was an enological and sensory bet, a search for harmony between technique and memory.

Today, more than twenty years after the harvest, this wine still speaks with a clear voice: it carries the sea, iodine, salt, yellow flowers, and an echo of tuff and light ash—a profound vibration that speaks of authority and time.
It is a wine that has traveled through the years like an ancient witness, restoring Falanghina to its original role: not just a grape, not just a wine, but a memory you can drink—one that, instead of aging, clarifies.
FALANGHINA (From the book "Il Romanzo del Vino") "The 1990s were the golden decade for this vine and the wine produced from it. From North to South, no restaurant could put it on the menu fast enough before stocks ran out. A trend that relaunched the wines of Campania and did justice to a vine that, despite its prestige and millenary history, risked being lost. Credited by scientists as one of the components of Falerno, one of the most appreciated wines of ancient Rome, it gradually lost consideration until it became, immediately after World War II, the object of actual uprooting campaigns. Only in the mid-1960s did a small group of enlightened producers dedicate themselves to its recovery, restoring one of the hidden treasures of Italian enology to its full potential."
